Students at the school have the opportunity to graded dance exams. Exams are taken in ballet with IDTA. Students take their first exam at Preparatory level, followed by Primary grade, and then working through Grades 1-6. Dance exams are great experience for the dancers and give them something to work towards in class. As a dancer passes an exam, they get to move on to the next grade. Each grade provides a structure for the students dance class, providing a progression of moves through the levels, building on technique and skills with each grade. Graded exams will take place every 1 or 2 years depending on whether the students are ready or not. Exams cost around €20 dependant on the grade being taken. Full correct uniform and footwear is required for exams. Leighton will ensure students are only taking exams once they are ready and that the student and the parents know what is involved and what the child will need for their exam. All students and parents will be informed when an exam is coming up. Dates, times and information will be added to this page when an exam is approaching.
