Throughout the year there are many opportunities for dancers to perform. Our major
production is held biannually in the summer time. This show is a full theatre production
with full costume, lighting and sound. In the summers in between, a smaller end of year
showcase is put on for parents to see what their child has learned. Each Christmas the
school holds a display for parents so that new students can get a feel for performing
and parents can see what their child gets up to in class. A range of prizes, awards and
trophies are given out at the Christmas display for achievements made through the year.
There are also several other opportunities for students to perform. The school regularly
takes part in local festivals, events and parades. On occasions we hold demo classes
where we allow parents, friends and families into class while the children perform their
exercises and routines for them. Students wishing to perform more regularly can choose
to sign up for the Elite Team giving them the opportunity to perform in international events
and, on occasions, on TV. Advanced ballet students can audition for Youth Ballet West to
get the opportunity to perform with a ballet company. Leighton will inform parents and
students of upcoming performances and work with students in class to prepare them for
their performance. Extra rehearsals are occasionally required for certain performances.
Parents will be given all information on what is involved and what will be needed.
